UA student Melina Dawn Steele died Wednesday, according to a press release sent Friday afternoon by Stacy L. Jones, associate dean of students. She was 36 years old and a distance learning graduate student in the School of Social Work. Visitation was held Feb. 21 in Attalla, Alabama, and funeral services were held Sunday in Steele, Alabama.
