Suicide Awareness Walk to promote mental health resources

WHAT: Suicide Awareness Walk

WHO: The public of Tuscaloosa, UA students are encouraged to participate

WHEN: Sunday, April 3, 1 – 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: The walk will go from the Counseling Center to the Walk of Champions.

WHY: The point of the walk is to raise suicide awareness.

“Last year, we did the walk under the name ‘Mental Health Awareness,’ but the counseling center has encouraged us to use suicide in the title instead, given that we want to encourage conversations about something that understandably can be uncomfortable to talk about,” said Matt Gillham, who is working the Suicide Awareness Walk.

There is no cost, and anyone is able to participate.

Gillham said they hope to unify UA students as well as make students aware of the counseling resources available.
