Monarch Espresso Bar

Craft coffee isn’t the only thing this quaint, relaxed atmosphere serves up. Monarch also provides pastries, cereal and avocado toast – all of which are reasonably priced. Nick’s in the Sticks

Though it may not look like an upscale steakhouse upon first approach, this Tuscaloosa gem offers filets, ribeye, onion rings and more for some of the best prices in town. With a rustic, backcountry ambiance, this restaurant might be exactly what you need for an evening study break. (4018 Culver Road)

Oz Music

If you’re desperate for some study tunes to keep you going, Oz Music may be exactly what you’re looking for. As a record store that sells used and new CD’s, DVD’s and vinyl, Oz Music has a large variety of music for almost every taste. (506 14th St.)

Tea Town

This quaint, local tea shop is the definition of a hidden gem. Tucked into Northport lies a variety of elixirs, fresh-brewed and loose-leaf teas, many of which are brewed using locally-grown herbs and fruits. Additionally, the building was also created by local artisans using recycled materials from the Tuscaloosa area. (412 22nd Ave. Northport)

Mary’s Cakes and Pastries

Tea Town’s neighbor, Mary’s Cakes and Pastries offers a variety of custom cookies, cakes and pastries for your sweet tooth. The bakery also offers $5 lunch specials throughout the week, varying from pulled pork and Cuban styled paninis to ham and swiss croissants. (412 22nd Ave. Northport)

The Book Rack

The Book Rack offers everything, from a paperback or hardback book to kind words and quality conversation with the women who work inside. In a quaint, homey atmosphere, it’s a great place to sit and read or browse their wide selection of used books if you need to get out of the traditional library setting for an hour or so.
