The five-week junket trip in May of 2017 is open to students
majoring or minoring in English, African-American studies, women’s studies or anthropology. In addition,
students who are affiliated with the Blount Undergraduate Initiative and the Honors College are welcome to apply, regardless of their major.

On this trip led by professors Cajetan Iheka and Jennifer Jones, along with taking six credit hours, students will have the opportunity to explore Capetown, the main stage in the struggle to end
apartheid; Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela spent the majority of his 27-year prison term; and Pilanesburg Game Reserve, a
protected area where elephants,
rhinoceroses and lions roam.
