Funk legend George Clinton is bringing the groove to the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater this Saturday, April 7.

The Amphitheater is continuing its Coca-Cola Concert Series with “Funkaloosa,” a concert featuring George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Morris Day & The Time and Sheila E. for the ultimate funky night.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $25, $50, $60 and $70.

Parliament Funkadelic, or P-Funk for short, is a funk music group that started back in the 1960s. George Clinton is the leader of the group of rotating musicians, and has previously explored electro-funk as a solo artist.

P-Funk’s style has been influenced by psychedelic culture, fashion, science-fiction and surreal humor. Over the years, P-Funk has also had an influence on hip-hop and other styles of funk.

Morris Day was a founding member of Prince’s band, The Time, where he remained with the group until 1984. He returned to perform with The Time several times in 1990 and 1995. Day released three solo albums including “Color of Success,” “Daydreaming” and “Guaranteed.” Day has worked mostly in R&B, funk and urban styles.

Sheila E. is a singer and percussionist who also has ties to Prince as his protégée. She has performed a wide range of musical styles from Latin jazz and R&B to funk and pop. Her most recent album is “Iconic: Message 4 America” and it fuses pop, R&B, Latin, rock and jazz sounds together into a style different anything else out in the music world.
