Who: The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Military and Veterans’ Affairs Council is hosting a 5K run, and anyone may participate in the run.

What: Third annual Veterans Day Run; 100 percent of proceeds benefit local military and veteran organizations.

When: Saturday, Nov. 10. Registration will begin at 7 a.m., and the run will begin at 8 a.m.

Where: The VA track at McAbee Activity Center.

Why: “The Veterans Day 5K run supports scholarships for Shelton, Stillman and UA military students,” said Alex Bynum, assistant director of logistics. “It is important to honor veterans who have served our nation.”

Bynum said this is the final event of Veterans Week, which began Nov. 5.

Participants can come the day of the run and register for $25 with cash, check or credit.
