The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees met Thursday and unanimously approved Stuart R. Bell as the President of the University.
Bell currently serves as the executive vice president and provost of Louisiana State University. He was tapped for the position last week by Chancellor Robert Witt and was the only named candidate during the search since Judy Bonner announced her intention in December 2014 to leave the position.
The appointment will become effective July 15.
