Practice Report: Alabama returns to practice after Wisconsin

Practice+Report%3A+Alabama+returns+to+practice+after+Wisconsin

On Monday, Alabama returned to the practice field for the first time since Saturday’s opener against Wisconsin.

Before practice coach Nick Saban and corner back Cyrus Jones spoke about the defense’s need to create more turnovers. Reggie Ragland and other linebackers began the viewing period recovering rolling ground balls that simulated fumbles. Later in the viewing period the linebackers rotated through additional drills one of which included catching passes.

Practice Notes:

  • The quarterbacks and running backs worked together on handoffs early in the viewing period presumably to work on the timing involved with pass-run option plays.
  • Later in the viewing period the quarterbacks worked with wide receivers and tight ends running intermediate and longer routes. Both units had a good day today so the live game reps might have helped.
  • Quarterback Jake Coker in particular stood out, but most of the incompletions that occurred seem to result because a receiver lacked the focus required to complete the catch.
