Practice Report: Alabama's defense prepares to shut down LSU

Practice+Report%3A+Alabama%26%23039%3Bs+defense+prepares+to+shut+down+LSU

Alabama’s game against LSU is usually a bit of a defensive struggle. Both teams have combined to score less than 40 points in four of the last six meetings dating back to 2010.

So it should be no surprise that the defense was working hard on getting turnovers in practice on Monday. Defensive backs such as Eddie Jackson and Tony Brown were told to “attack the ball” as they ran drills designed to work on getting interceptions.

Practice Notes:

  • Linebackers, such as Reggie Ragland, worked on drills that involved knocking the football out of the opponent’s hands at various angles presumably to help the group improve at both fumbles at knocking passes out of the air.
  • One linebacker wore a No. 52 jersey in practice today to simulate LSU’s Kendell Beckwith.
  • Multiple running backs suited up in No. 7 jerseys to help the team remember to keep an eye out for LSU’s Leonard Fournette.
  • The quarterbacks including Blake Barnett and Jake Coker worked with tight ends including O.J. Howard and recievers including Richard Mullaney.
