    Bama Art House to present biopic about Janis Joplin

    Janis Joplin is a rock and roll icon and this week, students can a deeper glimpse into the singer’s short life.

    The Bama Theatre will screen “Janis: Little Girl Blue” on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. This biopic is directed by Amy Berg and focuses on the singer’s career. It is based on letters Joplin wrote to friends, family and collaborators. The film is narrated by musician Cat Power and features interviews with important people in Joplin’s life, like Peter Albin, as well as archival footage of Joplin herself.

    The ticket price is $7 for students and $6 for Arts Council members. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. and the doors open at 6:45.

    The screening is part of the Bama Theatre’s Bama Art House film series. The goal of the series is to screen modern independent films once a week. “Janis: Little Girl Blue” will be the last film in the Art House’s winter series.
