Annual UA undergraduate research conference to be held Wednesday

WHAT: Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Conference

WHEN: Wednesday, March 30, from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.

WHERE: Ballroom Ferguson Student Center

WHY: “The conference is intended to benefit undergraduate researchers across campus as a means of giving them a chance to publicly present their research projects and research findings to fellow students and faculty,” said Dr. Kim Bissell, the Director of Undergraduate Research. “Academic conference such as URCA are very common for graduate students and faculty, and this is one way for our undergraduates to get an early start on getting experience and exposure to presenting research. While we want our presenters to get experience from the whole process, it is also the goal for other students to come by the conference on Wednesday and see what their fellow students are doing. For some undergraduates, research is a relatively new thing, and I think when undergraduates see their fellow students doing it and presenting it, it makes the whole process seem more accessible and manageable. The Office for the Vice President for Research and Economic Development as well as the Office for Undergraduate Research really want to use this as an opportunity to showcase the excellent research our undergraduates are doing, so the benefit crosses many levels.”
