Offensive lineman Petitbon injured during Saturday's scrimmage

Alabama football coach Nick Saban announced Tuesday morning that offensive lineman Richie Petitbon is injured, but is in the process of recovering.

“Richie Petitbon suffered a knee injury during Saturday’s scrimmage,” he said. “He has undergone successful surgery with Dr. Lyle Cain in Birmingham and we anticipate a full recovery.”

Petitbon is a redshirt freshman, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 300 pounds.

He was a four-star recruit and among his class, he was ranked the No. 5 offensive guard and the No. 65 overall prospect. Rivals.com has him ranked as the No. 4 offensive guard and the No. 51 overall prospect.

Saturday was the Crimson Tide’ first spring scrimmage. It has nine spring practices under its belt and will face another scrimmage on Saturday after completing practices on Wednesday and Friday.

Alabama will host A-Day in Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. CT.
