How former Alabama baseball players opened MLB season

Major League Baseball is back. Opening week started Sunday and four former Alabama players are on rosters. Alex Avila, David Robertson, Jimmy Nelson and Tommy Hunter all returned to the big leagues. Here is how all four did on opening day:

ALEX AVILA – C, Chicago White Sox

2015: .191 AVG, 67 G, 5 2B, 4 HR, 13 RBI

Game one: Did not play

DAVID ROBERTSON – RHP, Chicago White Sox

2015: 6-5, 34 SV, 3.41 ERA

Game one: Robertson picked up a save in the first game to secure a 4-3 win over the Oakland Athletics. Robertson began the ninth with a walk to Coco Crisp, but then had a rebound strikeout of Chris Coghlan. He then induced a fly out and a groundout to finish the game.

TOMMY HUNTER – RHP, Cleveland Indians

2015: 2-0, 1 SV, 4.18 ERA

Hunter is currently on the 15-day disabled list as he recovers from core surgery in January.

JIMMY NELSON – RHP, Milwaukee Brewers

Nelson is scheduled to start game two for the Brewers against the Giants.
