My2K Tour brings early 90s bands to Tuscaloosa

Four pop bands from the early 2000’s are teaming up this summer for the My2K Tour and will be stopping in Tuscaloosa on July 21.

98 Degrees, O-Town, Dream and Ryan Cabrera will perform at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $110, according to the tour’s website.

One of the original boy bands of the late 90’s, 98 Degrees released their self-titled debut album in 1997, according to their website. In 2000, the group collaborated with Mariah Carey on the #1 single “Thank God I Found You,” which received a Grammy nomination. The band is well known for songs like “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)” and “Because of You.”

O-Town first gained success by being the stars of ABC’s “Making the Band.” Viewers got to watch the group from their inception to the release of their first singles “Liquid Dreams” and “All or Nothing,” both of which were #1 hits, according to the bio on the band’s website. The band broke up in 2004 but reunited in 2013 to release a new a new album, “Lines and Circles,” for an independent label.

Dream, best known for their 2000 single “He Loves U Not,” was formed in 1998 and disbanded in 2003. The all-girl group gained early success via MTV’s hit request show “TRL.” They reunited in 2015 and are currently working on a new album scheduled to be released this year, according to an interview on E! Online.

Singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera released his first major album, “Take it All Away, in 2004. In recent years, he’s become well known for his web series “Live From Ryan’s Living Room,” where he broadcasts live performances, with special guests like Colbie Caillat, Gavin DeGraw and We The Kings. Unlike the other bands on the My2K tour, Cabrera has been working steadily since his debut having released his latest EP, “Wake Up Beautiful” last year, according to the artist’s website.
