For Will and Reed Lochamy, it’s lights, camera, trivia.

Will Lochamy is a co-host of Oh Brother Radio with his brother Reed and also does commentary for the Paul Finebaum Show on the SEC Network. Together with help from Mental Floss a slew of celebrity guests, “Right You Are! With the Lochamy Brothers” will take place in the BJCC’s Forum Theater.

Q: Tell me a bit about the variety show.

Lochamy: My brother and I, he’s my co-host as well, we’ve done some work with Mental Floss in the past and they have a traveling trivia show that they do live in theaters and we’ve hosted that once before for them in Birmingham. The BJCC reached out to us and they were interested in us doing a radio show at the Forum Theater, but I thought maybe a live trivia show would be a better fit. We kinda took the Mental Floss live trivia game but also some of our favorite radio shows like Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and Says Here and kinda combined a lot of their components to make this show what it is. So, it’ll be a two hour radio show there at the Forum Theater where contestants will actually be called out of the audience to participate in the different rounds.

Q: What were the planning stages for the show?

A: Once we kinda came up with the idea along with the BJCC, I started sitting down with Mental Floss and started talking to them about it and also thinking about charities we wanted this to help out… After production costs, all the proceeds are going to different charities each month and the first few months is Camp Smile-A-Mile. We have a few friends that work there and my brother and I have worked with some kids that were battling cancer and have gone there.

Q: What kind of celebrity guests will be featured at the show?

A: We’ll have a musical guest that will play during the commercial breaks and we wanted to find somebody that we really liked a lot and wanted to support. We have Jackson Capps, who’s one of our favorites. He’s a young man, he’s 16, and plays like really cool old-style country. He debuted at the Grand Ole Opry when he was 12 years old so that’s a pretty cool thing to be able to have him… [Secret celebrity guests] will be playing along with the crowd so basically when someone is called out of the crowd, they’ll come up and be on a team with one of the other celebrity contestants.

Q: Where can people buy tickets?

A: They can go to bjcc.org or ticketmaster.com. They’re only $10 and that goes to benefit Camp Smile-A-Mile.

Q: After this, do you have future plans for live shows?

A: We wanna make this a monthly show in Birmingham, so where once a month people know this will be happening plus it’ll be on the radio, of course, and iTunes podcast. We wanna make it a regular thing that people will be able to look forward each month and also help a different charity every month.

“Right You Are! With the Lochamy Brothers” will take place on July 30th at 7 p.m.
