PRACTICE REPORT: Alabama returns to practice following Fan Day

Up until today’s practice, the University of Alabama had been blessed with clear skies for fall camp. There was no such luck on the fifth day of practice though, as clouds rolled in bringing rumbles of thunder with them. Despite the threat of rain the practice began and was still occurring outdoors at the end of the media viewing period.

Linebacker Tim Williams stood out during drills, and he was heard being praised multiple times by outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi during the viewing period. The group was led through footwork drills by Ryan Anderson, Williams and Christian Miller.

Additional Practice Notes:

  • Defensive linemen worked on a footwork drill. They were led by Jonathan Allen, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Da’Shawn Hand.
  • The quarterbacks threw to the tight ends in two lines. One line was led by quarterbacks David Cornwell and Jalen Hurts, and they threw to a line of tight ends led by Miller Forristall and O.J. Howard. The other group of quarterbacks, Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett, threw to a line of tight ends led by Hale Hentges and Brandon Greene.
  • The running backs went through agility and footwork drills, led by Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris, BJ Emmons and Joshua Jacobs.
  • The safeties worked on a coverage drill, with one side led by Tony Brown and Eddie Jackson and the other led by Jared Mayden and Deionte Thompson.
  • The inside linebackers practiced reacting to the run in pairs, led by Reuben Foster and Shaun Dion Hamilton, followed by Rashaan Evans and Keith Holcombe.
  • The offensive linemen worked on speed and burst, running in groups of three. They were led by Jonah Williams, Cam Robinson, and Ross Pierschbacher, and followed by Bradley Bozeman, J.C. Hassenauer, and Korren Kirven.
  • The wide receivers worked on pass blocking in pairs, with Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart working together and Gehrig Dieter working with running back Xavian Marks.
