On Wednesday the Alabama football team returned to the indoor facility as Sept. 3, becomes closer and closer. Coach Nick Saban had his team run through various drills in the facility to prepare for the first game against USC at AT&T Stadium.

A lot of the attention was set on the back seven of the defense, which ran coverage drills under Saban’s supervision. Reuben Foster and Rashaan Evans were playing linebacker, while Ronnie Harrison, Eddie Jackson, Hootie Jones, Marlon Humphrey and Minkah Fitzpatrick were all playing as defensive backs. Saban yelled during the media period when one of the coverages was busted.

Other practice notes:

  • The offensive line did burst drills under the shoot, which made them stay low
  • The running backs started with high knee drills over bags while carrying two footballs. Bo Scarborough got first team reps followed by Damian Harris. They then moved to catching wheel routes from the quarterbacks
  • The receivers followed the running backs and ran post routes and go routes for the quarterbacks.
  • All the quarterbacks seemed to miss their mark a few times. Several passes were left short on the running back wheel routes.
