Enter an upscale tap room intricately decorated with brass designs. More than 30 barstools line up across from a lineup of nearly 60 different craft beer taps. Guests enjoy prime rib, flatbreads and burgers while others sip on glasses of wine or puff their cigars.

The Brass Tap, which is under construction in Tuscaloosa, will offer more than beer and nachos when it stakes its claim among local eats and drinks this June.

As Purple Square Management opens its ninth location this summer, The Brass Tap will offer a combination of taps worldwide as well as 30-40 local taps in Tuscaloosa. With a full kitchen, liquor bar, wine and cigars, this tap room will offer a more upscale setting for all.

“We’re always looking for new and exciting markets and when we first got to Tuscaloosa we fell in love with the vibe of the city and the passion of the university and community,” said Erin Sheerin, Purple Square Management’s marketing manager. “We didn’t see anything else quite like it, and we’ve just noticed a lot of growth around the craft beer interest.”

Alongside a variety of craft beers, the Brass Tap will also offer a full-blown kitchen with everything from tacos to boom boom shrimp.

“We have some really great food items that go with all of the craft beers,” Sheerin said. “Flatbreads, house made tater-tots, nachos, prime rib, full-sized burgers, wraps and salads, you name it.”

The Brass Tap will be decorated with brass backdrops and cans as they keep their beer the focal point. The tap room prides itself on its focus on the origins, styles and brewing processes that surround the culture of beer – both nationwide and locally.

“One thing that differentiates us is that no matter the location, we’re going to tie into the local feel of the community,” Sheerin said. “We’ll try to keep at least 30-40 taps local and our general manager is actually from Alabama. We’re most looking forward to integrating ourselves into the Tuscaloosa and University of Alabama community and hopefully bring some great tap beers into the mix.”

The company is also very event driven, offering various themed trivia nights and happy hours throughout the week.

“It’s a great business move because I think so many upperclassmen are looking for a more relaxed and upscale environment to hang out at,” said Kelsey McKiernan, a junior majoring in marketing. “Not to mention they’re going to have a full kitchen, so it’ll attract an even larger crowd.”

The Brass Tap hopes to open the first week of June at 1800 McFarland Blvd. For more information and updates, visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/brasstaptuscaloosa/
