The University of Alabama issued an alert at 10:19 p.m. stating that all activities would be suspended starting at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Campus food service hours will be comparable to weekend activity, and all classes are canceled for the day.

The alert came as schools across the state have been closing for tomorrow in preparation for severe weather. The North Campus, East Campus and Magnolia Parking Deck storm shelters will be available to all students, faculty, and staff across campus, with the Magnolia Parking Deck shelter also being able to take in pets.

Tuscaloosa is currently expected to be at moderate risk for tornado activity tomorrow. Governor Bentley has announced a state of emergency due to the possible threats of tornadoes, baseball-sized hail and extreme winds.

The storm front is anticipated to be a long-lasting line of scattered thunderstorms, so caution is advised throughout the day.
