The majority of the latest meeting of First Year Council was devoted to a presentation by Ross D’Entremont concerning the proper way to write legislation.

The meeting began with FYC director Cassidy Reilly introducing SGA Sen. Ross D’Entremont. D’Entremont gave a lengthy presentation concerning the appropriate way to format legislation within FYC.

He covered the proper purpose and structure of resolutions, and noted that FYC members cannot introduce bills. He also discussed the proper purpose and structure of acts, both within the context of FYC and in the Senate.

After his presentation, D’Entremont led a short Q&A session with the members of FYC.

Director Reilly then initiated a short break for committee meetings with an emphasis on improving resolutions by using D’Entremont’s guidelines.

After breaking for committees, a member of FYC moved to add David Hiller as the parliamentarian of FYC. The motion passed unanimously.
