After No. 1 Alabama took down Kent State, 48-0, on Saturday, the coaches decided on nine players of the week. Three players were named each among offense, defense and special teams.

Tight end O.J. Howard, running back Joshua Jacobs and offensive lineman Jonah Williams were named offensive players of the week. Jacobs got an increase in carries and produced  97 yards and two touchdowns. Williams helped Jacobs and other running backs combine for 285 rushing yards. Howard added to the passing attack with 60 receiving yards and a touchdown.

On defense, defensive backs Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ronnie Harrison and linebacker Keith Holcombe were named players of the week. Fitzpatrick, at corner, had 1.5 sacks against the Golden Flashes, while Harrison, at safety, recovered a fumble. Holcombe gathered a career-high six tackles.

The punting and kicking game was sharp as Adam Griffith was perfect on field goals and extra points, and JK Scott had two punts for an average of 49.0 yards. Xavian Marks was the other special teams player of the week after he scored on a 75-yard punt return in his first career game doing so.
