President Donald Trump recently nominated multiple candidates for federal court positions in both Alabama and Tennessee, including three alumni of The University of Alabama’s law school.

In Trump’s 5th round of appointments, UA law graduates Annamarie Carney Axon and Liles C. Burke have been nominated to serve as district judges for the United States District Court for the district of Northern Alabama.  Axon is a current member of Birmingham law firm Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt while Burke is an associate justice for Alabama’s Court of Criminal Appeals.

Along with Axon and Burke, fellow UA law alumnus Chip Campbell is being tapped for a federal court position as well.  Campbell is being nominated to serve as a justice for the Middle District of Tennessee, which includes Nashville.  He is joined in this nomination by Eli J. Richardson.  Campbell is a native of Nashville and received his bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy before serving as a naval flight officer in the Marines.

Among the nominations by Trump in Tennessee included state Senator Mark Norris, who is considering a run for governor in the next cycle.

All nominations must be confirmed by the Senate.
