WHO: Members of multicultural and international organizations at the University, as well as representatives from the Capstone International Center.

WHAT: A gathering of these various organizations to discuss the opportunities they offer to students.

WHEN: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

WHERE: The Crimson Promenade, outside of B.B. Comer Hall near the Ferguson Student Center.

WHY: Megan Wagner, the Capstone International Center coordinator, said the event gives multicultural organizations the opportunity to meet with students. In turn, this event gives students the opportunity to meet with these organizations, gather materials and learn about membership. Wagner added that this event allows students to learn about the three departments of the Capstone International Center: Education Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services and the English Language Institute.

“We hope it’s a time for students to interact and make new friends and find out about their fellow UA students, maybe some students they wouldn’t normally meet,” she said.

Students who attend will be given a passport-like form that can be filled out at an organization’s table. Once students have made their way around the various tables, students will be rewarded with a free Steel City popsicle and the chance to win a prize.

“I think that UA has a lot more to offer students than just what they’re learning in the classroom and an event like this during Week of Welcome is going to let them know what else they can add to their panel or who else they can meet,” Wagner said.
