After an impressive 5-1 start to the 2017 campaign, Alabama has climbed to No. 22 in Soccer America’s Week Three Women’s College Top 25 rankings. The Crimson Tide moved up two spots from number 24 after a pair of road wins this past weekend.

Alabama claimed a 2-1 road victory over South Alabama on Saturday thanks to goals from veteran Celia Jimenez Delgado and freshman Casey Wertz. Senior keeper Kat Stratton played an integral part in the win, saving eight South Alabama shots. The Crimson Tide then blanked Troy 3-0 on Sunday with Abbie Boswell finding the net twice and Emma Welch adding a score of her own.

Alabama made its first appearance on the Soccer America Top 25 Rankings after freshman Taylor Morgan led the team to an upset victory over then 6th ranked Florida State in week two of the season. Alabama’s 2-1 win over the Seminoles marked the program’s first ever win against a top-ten team. With other wins against Jacksonville State and Samford, Alabama’s lone loss on the season came in crushing fashion when the Crimson Tide were edged out by South Florida 2-1 in overtime during week two of the season.

As it looks to continue its ascent of the rankings, Alabama will travel to Kennesaw State on Thursday, September 7 at 6 p.m. Then the Crimson Tide will return to Tuscaloosa to host Tennessee Tech on Sunday, September 10 at 5 p.m. Alabama is hoping to improve on last year’s 9-8-2 record, coach Wes Hart’s first winning season with the program.

In addition to notching the 22 ranking in Soccer America’s Top 25 Rankings, Alabama was among several teams to receive votes on TopDrawerSoccer.com and the NSCAA’s top-25 rankings. Alabama remained ranked number eight in the NSCAA Southeast Regional poll.
