Enrollment at The University of Alabama has reached an all-time high, with a total 38,563 students attending the Capstone. The two percent increase from last fall, continues the University’s consistent upward trend.

“We’re pleased to see our growth continue as we add another talented and bright class to our University family,” President Stuart Bell said in a press release. “With more students than ever before, it is clear that our exceptional academic programs and outstanding faculty continue to attract much-deserved attention from across the country.”

Though the freshman class has decreased by two percent, their accomplishments have continued to rise. According to UA News, 34 percent earned a high school GPA of 4.0 or higher – up three percent from 2016 – and more than 40 percent of the class scored a 30 or higher on the ACT.

“I would like to thank our faculty, staff, alumni and students who worked diligently to help make this year’s student body our highest achieving group yet,” Kevin Whitaker, executive vice president and provost said in a press release. “We take seriously our responsibilities to provide a premier education to these outstanding students.”
