Paul K. Whelton, MD, the lead writer on the new blood pressure guidelines, will speak at the David and Natica Bahar Memorial Lectureship.

Sponsored by the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS), Whelton’s presentation will discuss his work in rewriting the clinical guidelines for blood pressure, which have not been revised in over a decade and give a modern understanding of patients’ risk for heart disease with measurement that reads for the modern lifestyle.

“The goal is to help patients more accurately understand their cardiovascular risks,” said Jennifer Wright, a program assistant for CCHS. “More people will fall under the category of being at risk, but with their awareness, they will be able to take more preventative measures.”
