PRACTICE REPORT: Tua Tagovailoa continues to participate in drills

PRACTICE+REPORT%3A+Tua+Tagovailoa+continues+to+participate+in+drills

Alabama football was back in business for practice on Tuesday after a weekend off. Here are our observations from day four of spring practice:

  • Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa participated in most throwing drills. Tagovailoa, who reportedly broke his finger a week ago, stood off to the side while the other four quarterbacks threw to each other over a net. Other than that, he was fully involved, back to splitting reps with Jalen Hurts.
  • Near the end of the media viewing period, the quarterbacks and wide receivers worked on go routes. Coaches told the players, “If we can’t throw these on air, we can’t throw them on somebody.” Tyrell Shavers and Henry Ruggs led off the two lines of receivers throughout practice.
  • Tight end Miller Forristall remains in a black non-contact jersey after tearing his ACL in Week 3 of last season, but he participated in receiving drills alongside other tight ends.
  • The offensive linemen blocked each other one-on-one. Three played offense and three played defense at a time. From left to right, one set included Jonah Williams, Josh Casher, and Ross Pierschbacher, while the other set consisted of Lester Cotton, Jedrick Wills, and Richie Petitbon.
  • Just like their most recent practice on Saturday, the outside linebackers formed two lines and worked on their technique out of their stance. Coaches holding pads stepped back and pushed the pads at them to simulate opposing offensive tackles, and the linebackers had to swat the pads away. Terrell Lewis and Christian Miller were at the front of the two lines.
