For the second time in 10 days, a four-star out-of-state small forward in the 2019 recruiting class committed to play college basketball at the University of Alabama. Juwan Gary of Columbia, South Carolina ended his recruitment by announcing his decision Friday at Peach Jam, the end-of-season tournament for Nike’s EYBL circuit.

Gary is the 19th-ranked small forward and 67th-ranked player overall in the class of 2019, according to 247Sports’ composite rating. His commitment boosted the Crimson Tide’s class ranking from 24th to seventh, just behind perennial contender Kansas.

With Gary’s commitment, Alabama becomes the second team with multiple four- or five-star recruits in the class of 2019, alongside SEC opponent Kentucky.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Gary joins Diante Smith, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, as Alabama’s second 2019 commit so far. Smith committed to the Crimson Tide on July 4.
