No. 2 Alabama finished at 19-under par at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, which was good enough for a third place finish.

“I am proud of our guys for putting ourselves in a position to win this tournament, but unfortunately we didn’t do the little things a team needs to do in order to be victorious,” coach Jay Seawell said in a press release. “We learned a valuable lesson and it’s on me as a head coach. This experience will be helpful in terms of knowing what it takes to win tournaments. We look forward to growing as a team from this experience and competing next week in what will be another tough field at the Illini Invitational.”

The top-3 teams dominated the field. Alabama finished just two strokes behind Georgia Tech and Tennessee, both of which finished 21-under par. Fourth place was a tie at 1-under par.

All five Alabama golfers finished in the top-30, led by senior Davis Riley. Riley shot 9-under par to finished second. In his first collegiate tournament, Frankie Capan III finished eighth with a score of 213 [3-under par]. Wilson Furr finished 16th with a 216 [par].

Alabama will compete in the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational starting on September 14.
