Football ranked No. 1 in first week of CFP Poll

Alabama ranked No. 1 in first College Football Playoff rankings of the year.

Alabama was revealed as the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff committee’s first ranking of the year on Tuesday night. Clemson was No. 2.

LSU, which will host the Crimson Tide in Baton Rouge on Saturday, was ranked third. Saturday’s game will be Alabama’s first top-3 matchup in the regular season since last year’s opener against Florida State.

Georgia is the next SEC team in the rankings at No. 6, followed by Kentucky (No. 9), Florida (No. 11), Mississippi State (No. 18) and Texas A&M (No. 20).
