Notes:

  • After its streak of opening-drive touchdowns was broken last week at LSU, Alabama got back on track with a nine-play touchdown drive to start the game. Damien Harris had five carries, including the 1-yard touchdown.
  • The Crimson Tide’s next drive looked a lot like the first. It spanned 13 plays, nine of which were runs, and culminated in a 1-yard Josh Jacobs touchdown run.
  • Jacobs got back in the end zone with 3:26 left in the first half, taking a short pass from Tagovailoa 14 yards to the house. It was Jacobs’ team-leading 11th touchdown of the year.
  • Alabama held Mississippi State to 24 rushing yards in the first half, 38 of which came on one run.
  • Tagovailoa threw his second interception of the season on the opening drive of the second half.
  • After averaging 78 yards on its first two drives, Alabama’s next nine drives failed to gain more than 36 yards.
  • Tagovailoa was slow to get up after being sacked late in the third quarter. He remained in the medical tent for several minutes.
  • Alabama’s offensive line had allowed only six sacks in nine games before Saturday, but allowed four to the Bulldog’s heralded defensive front.
  • This is the first time Alabama has recorded back-to-back shutouts since beating Western Carolina and Auburn 49-0 in 2012. It hasn’t shut out SEC opponents in back-to-back weeks since 1980.
  • The Crimson Tide’s school-record streak of nine consecutive games with 500 yards of offense was snapped. The team finished with 304 yards.
