WHO: Open to faculty, staff and current University of Alabama students who have children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews ages 8-18. Participants should have registered by Nov. 12.

WHAT: Take Our Children to Work Day is a national event that has been going on for over twenty years. The Women and Gender Resource Center, Ferguson Student Center and Graduate Parent Support programs will be hosting the event, which invites parents to bring their children to campus for a day of activities, learning and growth opportunities at no cost.

WHEN: Monday, Nov. 19 from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

WHERE: Ferguson Student Center Ballroom

WHY: This event gives children the opportunity to experience several UA departments, various opportunities and possible careers that are available to them.

Paige Miller, program coordinator of the Women and Gender Resource Center, said the day will be filled with all kinds of activities that the children and parents can choose from.

“Throughout the day, we will have three different break out sessions,” Miller said. “The department of anthropology is doing a CSI workshop, we have a professor from the department of art and art history doing a printmaking workshop, we’re holding a session in the Museum of Natural History on fossils, and those are only a few examples of what will be offered.”
