Alabama landed its first signing of National Signing Day early Wednesday morning when four-star defensive tackle Byron Young signed his letter of intent. Young is the team’s 25th overall signing for the 2019 recruiting cycle, joining the 24 who signed in December.

Young is rated as the No. 77 overall prospect, the No. 8 defensive tackle nationwide, and the No. 6 player in Mississippi by the 247Sports Composite Rating. He is the 11th top-100 prospect to sign with the Crimson Tide, upholding the commitment he made over the summer.

Young took his official visit to Tuscaloosa in December and played on the East team in the All-American Bowl a few weeks later. The Laurel, Mississippi State native played at West Jones High School.

The 6-foot-2.5, 290-pound defensive lineman is Alabama’s fifth defensive lineman to sign, joining five-star Antonio Alfano and four-stars D.J. Dale, Justin Eboigbe and Braylen Ingraham.
