Alabama women’s golf finishes 15th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, California – The Alabama women’s golf team opened its spring season with a 15th place finish in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge with a 54-hole total of 913 (307-301-305) on Tuesday.

The three-day tournament featured 16 teams with nine teams ranked in the top 15 and 13 ranked within the top 35 of the country. No. 13 Stanford won the team title with a total score of 867 finishing ahead of No. 12 UCLA (869) and No.1 USC (871).

Junior Jiwon Jeon led the No. 5 Crimson Tide with a 26th place finish composed of a 10-over par 223 (73-75-75) over three days. Jeon went into Monday’s second round at 11th overall.

Junior Kenzie Wright had the Crimson Tide’s best single round score on Tuesday at even par 71. She finished at 31st place at 11-over 224 (76-77-71). This placed her 16 spots higher than she was coming off of round two.

Sophomore Angelica Moresco finished tied for 51st with a (75-72-81) score. Freshmen Mary Mac Trammell and Carolina Caminoli finished 79th and 82nd respectively.

Alabama resumes play on March 8th in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate hosted by South Carolina in Hilton Head, S.C.
