The Crimson Tide crumbled on the road at Texas A&M Tuesday night, losing 65-56 after the Aggies finished the game on a 24-6 run. With the loss, Alabama’s position on the edge of making the NCAA tournament becomes even more precarious.

“They had a big second half and were able to outscore us 41-26,” coach Avery Johnson said. “We got off to a slow start in the second half, helped by fouling their three-point shooters. [Savion] Flagg made two big threes on us; one to give them some momentum going into the locker room at the end of the first half and another big one in the second half. Our three-point defense, especially at critical times, let us down. Give them the credit.”

Johnson hinted that he was considering a lineup change against the Aggies, and he ended up moving John Petty Jr. into the starting lineup in the place of Herb Jones. It appeared as though the move may have helped, as the Crimson Tide led 30-24 at the half.

But after halftime, Alabama’s three-point shot faltered. The Crimson Tide shot 5-of-12 from beyond the arc in the first half, then made just 1-of-11 from outside in the second.

While Alabama’s offense went stagnant, the Aggies’ offense surged.

Alabama was led by Tevin Mack, who finished with 14 points. Riley Norris came off the bench to contribute nine points.

Alabama’s defeat to Texas A&M marks its third straight loss.

Alabama returns to action Saturday evening to take on Vanderbilt at Coleman Coliseum. The contest is set to tipoff at 5 p.m. CT.
