Alabama football held its first scrimmage of fall camp inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Here are some notes from a source who was in attendance:

  • Redshirt junior outside linebacker Terrell Lewis had a good day and looked “freakish.” Junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa looked like a “cheat code” and threw at least two touchdowns.
  • Senior guard Matt Womack was seen during pre-scrimmage drills but was not participating. Sophomore Emil Ekiyor Jr. slid from left guard to right guard and freshman Evan Neal came in at left guard during drills, and the first-team O-line looked the same during the scrimmage. No word yet on why Womack wasn’t participating. Womack is the fourth projected starter to miss time with injury this week, joining Dylan Moses, LaBryan Ray and D.J. Dale.
  • Florida State graduate transfer Landon Dickerson got some first-team reps at right guard but mostly worked with the second team.
  • Senior Jared Mayden was the other first-team safety with junior Xavier McKinney. Senior Shyheim Carter was at second-team safety.
  • Walk-on tight end Giles Amos worked with the first team at H-back and caught a touchdown from Tua Tagovailoa, with redshirt sophomore Major Tennison aligning on the line of scrimmage. Miller Forristall was active in drills but did not start off with the first team as he continues to recover from a foot injury.
  • Freshman kicker Will Reichard made a 50-yard field goal.

Coach Nick Saban added in his press conference that all three specialists — Reichard, Joseph Bulovas, and Skyler DeLong — played well. Saban also expects Dylan Moses to return to practice on Monday, but he said inside linebacker Josh McMillon hurt his knee today and the team needs to investigate it further. Matt Womack is day-to-day with an unspecified injury and freshman corner Brandon Turnage played today after missing one practice this week with a twisted ankle.
