Volleyball sweeps UAB in three-set win

Alabama volleyball earned its fourth sweep and sixth win of the season against UAB on Thursday night at Bartow Arena in Birmingham.

The Crimson Tide fell behind in the first half of each set. It fought back to tie it at 17-17 in both the first and second sets and 15-15 in the third. Once tied at 15-15 in the third set, the team only trailed once down the stretch. After three lengthy battles, the Crimson Tide won by scores of 29-27, 25-18 and 30-28, respectively.

Freshman middle blocker Alyiah Wells led the team with 12 kills and a .409 hitting percentage. She was one of three players with five blocks. She was joined by senior middle blocker Hayley McSparin and sophomore setter Mylana Byrd.

Alabama (6-1) will return to Bartow Arena on Friday morning, facing off with Georgia State (3-3) at 10 a.m. CT.
