COLLEGE STATION, Texas — It was another game of highs and lows for Alabama. For the third straight SEC game, Alabama’s offense produced over 400 total yards and amassed more than 45 points. However, the Crimson Tide defense once again allowed more than 20 points against an SEC opponent in the 47-28 victory over Texas A&M.
Play of the game: Sophomore wide receiver Jaylen Waddle caught a short pass from junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, breaking to the sideline and gliding through several Texas A&M defenders en route to the end zone. That tied the score at 7-7 in the first quarter.

Texas A&M’s first drive lasted more than half of the first quarter. Even a 15-yard penalty couldn’t stop the Aggies, who scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak by junior Kellen Mond. The drive lasted 15 plays and took 8:03 off the clock.Its the longest drive in terms of time of possessions Alabama has allowed all season.
Waddle weaved through several Texas A&M defenders for a 31-yard touchdown on Alabama’s opening drive. The 31-yard score was Waddle’s first touchdown reception of the season and capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive.
The lethal slant route struck again for Alabama on its next drive. Tagovailoa threw a short pass to junior receiver DeVonta Smith, who broke a tackle and ran the rest of the way to the end zone untouched.
The teams traded field goals on their next drives. Texas A&M’s Seth Small made a 31-yarder, followed by Alabama’s Joseph Bulovas with a 35-yarder.
Junior running back Najee Harris caught his fourth touchdown pass of the year in the second quarter, a 16-yarder underneath from Tagovailoa.
With the Crimson Tide knocking on the door again late in the second quarter, Tagovailoa threw his first interception of the year in the end zone.
Tagovailoa’s touchdown pass to Henry Ruggs III in the third quarter marked the junior’s fourth straight game with at least four touchdown passes.
Brian Robinson Jr. had a 2-yard rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter. It was Alabama’s first rushing touchdown by a running back in three weeks.
