In Alabama’s final matchup of the weekend, it fell to South Carolina, 3-0, the team’s third loss in straight sets this week.

South Carolina’s offense led the team across all three sets. After Alabama scored the first two points in the first set, the Gamecocks tied it up four times before taking the lead. Their lead continued through the set as they notched consecutive kills to win the set 25-15.

Alabama trailed early in the second set by four and was unable to come back. South Carolina closed the set with an 8-2 run and won it 25-14. Alabama rallied back after two set losses and put up an early lead in the third set; however, South Carolina’s offense fired back with four points in a row. The Gamecocks pushed to take the final set, 25-19, and sweep the match 3-0.

Junior outside hitter Doris Carter continued to lead the team in kills, finishing with 10 out of the 31. Although, the Crimson Tide saw a lack of efficiency in the offense, senior middle blocker Hayley McSparin did some impressive work for the defensive line. McSparin earned five blocks, including one solo and four assists. Junior libero/defensive specialist Kaylee Thomas is now just 60 digs away from the 1,000 mark after earning four in the match against South Carolina.

Alabama will return home to Foster Auditorium for its match against Ole Miss on Sunday, November 3 at 2 p.m. CT.
