    UA classes cancelled through Friday

The University of Alabama has suspended classes and regular operations through Friday, April 29.

The Student Rec Center is providing temporary housing for students whose residences were destroyed or severely damaged in the tornado. Students are in need of non-perishable food items and tarps at this time. These supplies can be dropped off at the Rec Center.

Lakeside Dining is the only dining facility open on campus today due to widespread power outages. A University press release advises students to expect long lines.

Additionally, members of the UA community who would like to offer assistance to the community may sign up to volunteer at St. Mathias Church starting at noon today, according to a University press release. St. Mathias Church is located at 2310 Skyland Blvd. The recommended route to reach the church is I-359, and the church is requesting those who have chain saws to please bring them.

Students and parents who have questions may call UA’s emergency call center at 348-1001 or 877-408-1001. Continue to check ua.edu throughout the day for additional information.
