The SGA Senate held their final meeting of the fall legislative session by reintroducing two pieces of old business found unanimously favorable among their respective councils.

Among the two pieces of old business was Resolution 10 which congratulates the creation of the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. fund.  The resolution aims to congratulate SGA President Hunter along with the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Panhellenic Association and other contributing organizations for helping to raise $75,000 for mental health services.

The resolution was authored by Senators Eric Silver and Harrison Adams.

Silver, a sophomore marketing major said that the resolution will increase mental health awareness

“[The resolution] initially was for a counseling center,” Silver said.  “Now it will become an endowment to increase mental health awareness.”

Adams, a sophomore majoring in economics and finance said that the fund hopes to raise over one million dollars over ten years.

“It’s really awesome that they’ve raised $75,000 this year,” said Adams.  “The University and SGA are really excited about it.”

Additionally, the Senate reintroduced and subsequently passed Act 12 which establishes environmental cross branch action.
