For the first time this season, Alabama softball lost its first SEC series as it lost the rubber match to South Carolina by a score of 2-0.

Alabama (38-4, 8-4 SEC) struggled offensively for the second-straight game, going scoreless for the first time this season while leaving 11 runners on base.

Junior Sarah Cornell got the start in the circle for Alabama but threw 1.1 innings after South Carolina got to the Westbury, New York native thanks to a two-run home run by Jana Johns. After a one-out double, Krystal Goodman came in relief and stranded two South Carolina runners to keep Alabama in the game. Goodman finished the game going 4 and 2/3 innings allowing only one hit and struck out six.

Next up, Alabama plays four games at home next week starting Wednesday, April 10 against Georgia State at 6 p.m. CT.
